Yellowish Vaginal Discharge

While vaginal discharge is normal, it can change if there is any sign you have an underlying medical condition. The glands that are located inside your cervix create small amounts of fluid that flow out of the vagina each day in order to cleanse it. This is completely normal and is your body' way of keeping the reproductive area clean and healthy. While the discharge can change slightly throughout the month, mostly during the time you are ovulating, the discharge is normally clear or milky and doesn' smell bad. Any other changes can be a sign that you have an infection, or even a sexually transmitted disease.

Yellowish Vaginal Discharge

A yellowish vaginal discharge is a sign that you should see you doctor immediately. This is also true for any white or grey discharge. Most commonly this is a sign of bacterial vaginosis. This is simply a common bacterial infection and it is not transmitted sexually. Normally, this infection is simply treated with oral antibiotics like any other infection your body may get. Doctors are unclear while some women are more prone to bacterial infections than others, but it is something that can be treated easily.

There are also other causes of changes in a women' vaginal discharge and these include several sexually transmitted diseases. Trichomoniasis is an infection that is normally contracted sexually. You can have this infection for a long time without having any signs at all. Fortunately, it' an infection that can be treated and cured with oral antibiotics. Other sexually transmitted diseases that may change the way your vaginal discharge looks or smells are Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. These are infection of the cervix which is caused by bacteria contracted during sexual intercourse.

Yellowish Vaginal Discharge

Most women who contract Gonorrhea will also have Chlamydia as the two often go hand in hand. Again these infections require a visit to the doctor and treatment with oral antibiotics. It' also smart to protect yourself during sex in order to avoid such complications. While condoms don' protect against all STDs they are rather effective in preventing the majority of them. Protecting yourself can save you a lot of trouble and pain in the long run.
